Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY (HOA)

HOA is the only QOPI Certified Cancer Center in Central New York

The Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program has certified over 300 practices across the United States, Brazil, Greece, Spain, Romania and Saudi Arabia. The QOPI Certification Program (QCP™) provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices. QCP validates processes that demonstrate to patients, payors, and the medical community, a practice’s commitment to quality.

Goal

HOA deals with immune compromised patients who are fitting various cancer diagnoses. COVID brought a great deal of concern in how to ensure patients, doctors, and nurses’ safety. At a time when COVID was at its peak HOA leadership was looking to install air purification systems into all 4 of their facilities, however none of the systems on the market could provide data that would demonstrate their effectiveness or that they were working properly.

Solution

Part I

InteliEQ’s GreenEQTM safer building package solution delivered a holistic approach that provided HOA with 24/7/365 air monitoring and sensors with active purification devices that remove up to 99.99% of surface and airborne contaminants ensuring proof of efficacy.

InteliEQ sensors delivered data through a gateway into the data hub to our cloud-based Platform that provided HOA with customized widgets to view the data and ensure that the air purification system is operational and that the air is clean.

Sensors measure the following:

  • PM 2.5
  • PM 10
  • VOC’s
  • CO2
  • Ozone
  • Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Air Flow

Result

This provided the staff and doctors peace of mind during the height of COVID and ensured that HOA could provide the needed care to their cancer patients.

Part II

HOA once again turned to the team at InteliEQ to solve a refrigeration problem that they were having, which needed a quick solution.

Pharmaceutical companies require monitoring and reporting of refrigeration temperatures to ensure compliance. HOA was experiencing false reads from their current system and needed to resolve the issue to obtain medication for a cancer patient who was going to be taking part in a medical trial.

Result

The InteliEQ team was able to provide sensors placed in glycol that stabilized readings and provide the necessary reporting to the pharmaceutical company so the cancer patient could receive the necessary medication and enter the trial.

Conclusion

InteliEQ’s GreenEQTM safer building package is a long-term solution that is scalable and delivered the necessary data to bring critical care services to immune compromised patients at HOA during the height of COVID and continues to provide solutions and data that aligns with HOA’s commitment to quality care as an QOPI certified practice.

At InteliEQ we are leveraging data to deliver smart, sustainable and healthy environments by taking the guess work out of what our buildings are telling us.
